It’s the little things!

It’s 12:20 after midnight and I have just finished my vigorous workout. Now I’m starving. I go to the kitchen searching for something with protein to eat. I open the fridge stare at the food for a few seconds before I decide that there was nothing interesting to eat.
I shake my head in impatience then look around for more options. My eyes catch a loaf.

I grab a slice of bread, quickly spread peanut butter and squeeze some honey on top, sit on a small chair and start to take take a first bite and look at the space in front of me.

It’s complete silence. Everybody has gone to bed. I am sitting here all by myself. My phone is in my room. So there is no entertainment to pass the time. No Facebook. No Twitter. Weirdly though, I am enjoying it.

I do not remember the last time I sat in the kitchen in silence to just eat without doing anything else. They always say that women are multifunctional and I guess that’s right. I usually eat while I talk to someone, read a book or use my phone. The idea of eating alone has always both annoyed and scared me. Eating alone means food meditation and when you meditate you connect to yourself.

What happens when you connect to yourself?

Deep thoughts happen. Deep actions happen.

Time invested on your well being, is never wasted. It only took me one long romantic walk to the fridge to start a journey meditations with Deepak Chopra. It is one of the best things I ever did to myself. Sometimes small unexpected acts we do, could lead to big results. Bigger than you can imagine. Do not underestimate anything you do. Just put more love into it and enjoy the outcome.

  1. I kind of do the same thing sometimes when I’m driving. I turn off the radio to just drive in silence. I just make some time for me and silence. It’s good to do every now and then.

Good post, thanks for sharing 🙂

  2. Yea I just had a moment of peace in your peace as I read about your little solitary event in the kitchen! 😀 I know what you mean. I have a lot of friends who despise being alone even for a min and need to be occupied with some form of interaction be with a person or a gadget. People can’t even take a dump without playing games on the phone or reading some random material! Lol… Ok I am sure you did not need to hear that but it’s insanely true! The only time perhaps they are alone is when sleeping! That does not count!

  3. This is a great reminder. it’s when we slow down that we really appreciate life, and how beautiful the little things are, if we just take the time to see them. 🙂

  4. I enjoyed your post as I have found myself doing the same thing many of times. I think its time to post ” Sitting Under The Bhodi Tree”. Even though I may not grab anything out of the fridge (I sometimes wonder if the fridge is my Bhodi Tree) its just a time to just be for me. By the way I love peanut butter and honey and once in a while I will include banana slices in the sandwich. Early mornings (every morning at 4am) is the best time to write.

    1. Each one of us has his/her own little pleasure in life..that may differ from one to another but they remain sanctuary and bring about a feeling of peace which we can’t put into words!
      Enjoy your tree 🙂
